Youtube 1080p/720p fix for Lenovo K3 Note and A7000 Plus

Greetings, fellow users!

I noticed many custom ROMs for the K3 Note and A7000 Plus having issues with 1080p/720p quality not showing up in the Youtube app's menu. I experienced this myself when I installed Risma's Paranoid Android. Well I found the issue after trial and error.

The issue is because of the Youtube app determining 1080p/720p playback by model number. If the model number is invalid, Youtube disables 1080p and 720p by default.

To fix this, you need to use a root file manager like Root Explorer, Total Commander, ES File Explorer, etc. Navigate to /system and scroll down until you see build.prop. Save a copy of this first before modifying it.

After backing it up, open that file, and look for the following line that looks like this:

ro.product.model=(model number here)

Change its value to the model number of your phone. You can refer to the phone's packaging for its model number.

If you use a K50-T5, change the value to Lenovo K50-T5
If you use a K50a40, change it to Lenovo K50a40
If you use an A7000 Plus, change it to Lenovo A7000-a
...and so on and so forth.

The line should now look like this after editing (using K50-T5 as an example)

ro.product.model=Lenovo K50-T5

Save the file, and reboot your phone. Open the Youtube app and play a video and you should notice that 1080p and 720p are working again.

Remember to do this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any software/hardware damages that arise from not following the instructions carefully.
